News and Updates · Updated October 28, 2026 · For affected exchange users, including Canadian individuals and businesses.
Exchange closures and access restrictions can make transaction histories and statements difficult to retrieve, even when the platform retains the data. Export your records while access remains available and keep a separate backup. Access deadlines vary by platform. Once self-service ends, retrieving records may require a support request. [2] [4] [5]
The examples below concern access to records. Trading and withdrawal deadlines may be earlier, so continued access to statements does not mean trading or withdrawals remain available. [3] [4]
What to save now
- For each platform, export all available years: CSV histories, statements and tax documents.
- Check the date ranges and coverage: trades, fees, deposits, withdrawals and any rewards or derivatives activity.
- Keep original files unchanged, with a separate backup.
- Ask official support for complete records if periods are missing or exports fail.
The CRA recommends regular exports and requires Canadian taxpayers to retain records for at least six years after the end of the last tax year they relate to, regardless of an exchange's access window. [2]
Coinbase Pro: statements available “until 2027”
Coinbase says previous Pro activity remains accessible in statements “until 2027,” without an exact cutoff or a promise of access throughout 2027. Export before then as a precaution. Coinbase Pro is no longer available, and Coinbase Taxes excludes Pro transactions. Retrieve those records separately to avoid gaps in your history. [1]
Sign in to Coinbase and open its Pro statements page. Save available CSV files and statements for every year you used Pro.
Digitra.com: records available until October 30, 2026
Digitra.com's notice on winding down its retail services in Brazil says histories and reports for tax purposes remain available until October 30, 2026. Download them through the app now. The notice does not establish that records will be deleted afterward. [3]
Coinext: self-service until November 30, 2026
Brazilian exchange Coinext says users can view and export histories and statements until November 30, 2026. From December 1, records remain preserved and can be requested through support, with manual processing and longer response times. Save your exports before self-service access ends. [4]
AscendEX: access already disrupted
AscendEX says normal operations and withdrawals have been suspended since July 1, 2026. Its August notices say records are preserved but access is restricted, and describe a planned balance and claims portal without promising complete transaction exports. As of October 28, its public notice archive still ends with the August 22 update; it does not confirm that complete exports are available. Save whatever records remain accessible and request missing history through official channels. No final export deadline is specified. [5]
BitMart: no confirmed records-access cutoff
BitMart's July notice planned platform closure for January 31, 2027, with historical access continuing for an unspecified period afterward. Its September 30 notice describes a proposed restructuring. Neither establishes a final records-access cutoff. Export available files now and request missing years from official support; January 31 is not a confirmed export deadline. [6] [7]
What this means for you
An empty exchange account does not mean its records are no longer useful. Purchase, fee and transfer histories can help you or your accountant substantiate acquisition costs and prepare later tax returns. For Canadian taxpayers, the responsibility to retain supporting records continues even if the platform closes or account access is lost. [2]
Keep an archive you control for every platform you have used, including those operating normally. Export regularly, check that the files open and cover the expected periods, and address gaps promptly. Doing this while access is available can reduce later reconstruction work and uncertainty when preparing your tax records.
